  • You can schedule an appointment by calling our office at (904) 666-5050.

  • Once your first visit is scheduled, we will send a Patient Portal request to your preferred method of communication (email or text). This portal allows you to complete your check-in process from home, including reviewing and signing our Privacy Notice and Financial Policy, and securely uploading photos of your insurance cards. Completing these steps ahead of time will significantly speed up your check-in on the day of your exam.

  • Yes. To perform a comprehensive evaluation of the retina and macula, your pupils must be dilated. For new patients, this is a standard part of your first exam with Dr. Ahmed Elkeeb. Dilation typically lasts 4–6 hours and causes light sensitivity and blurry near vision. We strongly recommend bringing sunglasses.

  • New patient consultations usually take between 1  to 2 hours. This time is necessary for a full history, dilation, advanced diagnostic imaging (like OCT), and a thorough discussion of your results with the doctor. Follow-up visits are typically an hour or less.

  • While many patients feel comfortable driving with sunglasses after dilation, the drops do cause blurred vision. If you are receiving an in-office treatment (like an injection) or if you are uncomfortable driving while dilated, we strongly recommend arranging for a driver.

  • Dr. Elkeeb is an in-network provider for a wide range of plans, including Medicare Part B, Aetna, WellCare, MultiPlan (Commercial), Prime Health Services Inc., Partners Direct Health & TRPN DirectPay. Please have your cards ready when using the Patient Portal so we can verify your specific coverage. Other insurance plans are currently pending.

  • No. Dr. Elkeeb is a Vitreoretinal Surgeon focusing exclusively on the 'back of the eye' (retina and vitreous). For glasses, contact lenses, or cataract surgery, we will coordinate care with your primary eye care provider.

  • No. These exams are best performed by an optometrist who can provide a glasses prescription. This ensures your state forms are filled out accurately with your best-corrected vision.
